I am very pleased to tell you that today it was officially announced that Moray HandyPerson Services has been awarded, The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service 2018.
This very prestigious award is the equivalent of an MBE for voluntary groups and is not given away lightly. It is with enormous thanks to the work of all the staff and volunteers over the last 21 years who have all contributed to making the Handyperson Service the organisation it is today and which has been recognised at the highest level with the granting of this Award.
MHPS would like to introduce a wheelchair and mobility aids hire service and has applied for a Money for Moray grant to help us set up this new service.
The success of the grant depends on members of the community voting for the project as there are more bids than money available. Anybody aged 14+ can vote but voting has to be done in person.
Presentations from all the groups will take place in Grant Hall, Rothes on Sunday 18th March. Registration is at 1pm and voters will then hear the bids and have the opportunity for questions before voting later in the afternoon. Tea and sandwiches will be served.
Please come along with friends and family to support us and vote. Thank you.
Please note the office will be closed on Thursday 15th March 2018.
Apologies for any inconvenience caused.
The office will be closed for the holidays from Friday 22nd December until we reopen on Wednesday 3rd January.
Wishing all our clients, volunteers and supporters a very Happy Christmas with Best Wishes for the New Year.
Moray HandyPerson Services AGM is at:
17:30 on Thursday 30th November 2017
Victoria House, 10 Victoria Crescent, Elgin, IV30 1RQ
All volunteers, supporters, agencies, clients and members of the public are welcome to attend.
Moray HandyPerson Services is a victim of its own success and now needs more volunteers. With our expanded range of services, there are many areas to choose from.
Our traditional diy jobs usually don’t require any particular skills, requests to change light bulbs, hang curtains, erect flat-pack furniture are typical job requests.
IT skills? Could you help someone get back online or recover from a virus? Then you could help us.
Good at decluttering? We need you.
Are you a Professional with knowledge of the NHS, social care, accounts, law, business? Consider joining our Board; either as a Director or an Advisor.
Fancy trimming someone’s toenails? Me neither but this is one of our most important new services that is growing fast!
Are you a local tradesperson with the skills to carry out electrical, plumbing, joinery or similar jobs? These aren’t necessarily jobs that are within the remit of our service but we always need trusted, proficient trades people.
Please give us a call on 01343 55739 for further information on volunteering for any of these opportunities or others that would help us deliver practical support to vulnerable people in our community. Thank you.
